June 20, 2010 by Damien Russell

Bestseller 1.2.04 is now available for download! As well as creating a stand alone patch, the full version installation and demo installation has also been updated. This will be the final patch available for the game. 3 years on I have never ceased to try and improve the experience, so this is a final thank-you to everyone who purchased the game :) You can download the update from the Bestseller page here. To view the version log and the improvements made then click here. It really is a fantastic update so I recommend everyone download's it :)

On a final note the website has been renewed for another year. I know things are slow around here but hopefully development on a few games will pick up shortly. In the mean time keep in touch with us over at the Osiris Games forums - we're always there ready to have a chat. Cheers

Bestseller 1.2.4 Coming Soon!

June 6, 2010 by Damien Russell

Work never ceases around here :) After 3 years this looks to be the final update I will do for the game. Bestseller patch 1.2.4 is more of a big hug to all the people who have supported this website over the past couple of years by purchasing the game and chatting with us over on the forums. Much like 1.2.3 its not so much to fix problems with the game but to add additional content. Unlike the previous update you will also be happy to know you can download this straight from the website via a small installer. For a list of changes already made in version 1.2.3 then click here. Otherwise stay tuned for the latest update hitting the website some time this week.

Oh and I wont be making any promises about other projects just yet; it seems whenever I do I always break them, but I have picked up from where I left off with Bestseller: Chapter Two and holidays are coming up; so you never know :) In the mean time get what you can out of the latest update. Cheers

Sweeney Todd PR & Pixel Hunt Issue 8

August 3, 2009 by Damien Russell

Just a quick update to say that the site is of course still operational and work has continued over these past few months on Sweeney Todd: The Game. Now I just wanted to clear something up while I'm here as well because I've got a lot of e-mails and comments on my YouTube channel about this and in response to everyone asking if its anything like the movie the answer is "No". I began Sweeney Todd before the movie was even penned, so its been a loooooooong time in the making. Longer than I had hoped to be honest, but the only thing it has in common with the film is perhaps its dark gothic tone... I've gone for a more Sin City-esque type tone with the game though, black and white - red blood, old school gothica sort of feel. I dabbled a little bit with this style in Bestseller (as many people may have noticed) but Sweeney Todd really is a heavier take on this style.

Also just a final note to say that PixelHunt Issue 8 is now available for free download (click here to view) and Issue 9 will be available mid-late August. We all work very hard on these mags each month so don't forget to at least check them out (afterall, you can't get much better than FREE), send the link on to your mates and keeping the wheels in motion. I will try and update this space more frequently with progress reports, but to be honest I'd much rather spend the time working on the actual games. But I'll be sure to post up a few more screenshots in the coming months and perhaps even a YouTube demo of how the game is looking. Keep gamin', cheers :)

I'm Still Here!

February 8, 2009 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

Just a quick message to all the MG fans out there that I'm still alive and that the website is still (after the 'hiatus') growing. I just wanted to once again thank all those that support me. I continue to send out Bestseller serial activation codes on almost a daily basis and its good to see that people are still enjoying my games. I hope to get back into the swing of things again soon and see where it takes me. I am going through a bit of a life-changing period right now, and of course Myrtilus always comes into play.

I also have a bit of an annoucement for you. I have recently joined the Pixel Hunt team, a group of very talented individuals (if I may say so myself haha!) that put out monthly online-gaming issues. It has feature articles, reviews, previews, competitions, etc - so I would like to see people check it out for themselves and have a bit of a gander. It's completely free so there's no pressure to join if you don't like us or pay or anything like that. To check it out head over to: http://www.pixelhunt.com.au. Keep on gaming!

Milestone Reached

September 7, 2008 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

Myrtilus Games, or more to the point Bestseller has reached a very important milestone. We have officially sold over 500 copies of everyone's favourite (and i'm sure ONLY) author simulation game! The game took 18 months to build and test and here we are, another 18 months on since Bestseller was first annouced with this very special milestone. Now a lot of people may be reading this thinking "what's the big deal? 500 is not a lot." Well perhaps not to a company like EA or Rockstar, but to our small indie-business here at Myrtilus Entertainment it is quite an accomplishment. So i would like to thank all those who support this website and keep things moving along at MG.

Also a lot of you may be asking the question, "so what happens from here on in?" - and unfortunately I am still unable to answer that question. This website will still be up and running for another year at least, and I will continue to sell and support my current titles - but all future projects are officially on hiatus. I simply do not have enough time anymore to manage building these games while both studying and working. Perhaps Myrtilus Games will one day be revamped and continued (after all the source code still remains!) but in the mean time I ask that you check back every now and again and continue to support our community. I will keep you posted with the status anyway :) Cheers

Time... Is Not On My Side

February 10, 2008 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

Another long break inbetween updates. This one is just a notice to let everyone know that obviously neither Sweeney Todd or Memphis Drive will be making a February/March release. I start university soon which even further delays progress - but rest assured they're both going ahead and hopefully they'll both be finished by mid-year. Games arent born overnight unfortunately - theres a lot of time involved in building a really good game and I dont want to rush things, especially with Memphis Drive. I know people have high hopes and i'll do my absolute best to live up to them... but it cant be rushed.

Also I have just placed some support banners for Play-Asia around the site. This is a really excellent website which specialises in almost all forms of media (primarily games though) which can be bought for discount prices over the internet (and when I mean discount - I REALLY mean discount!) It has quite a large fanbase, so I highly recommend everyone checks it out - and while your at it I would appreciate if people can follow our links to the site as it supports Myrtilus Entertainment. Thanks guys, more news to come on our latest games soon - i promise!

Broken Links = Apologies!

January 9, 2008 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

Firstly let me start by saying -- HAPPY NEW YEAR! -- I am a bit late, I know, but never-the-less I'd like to wish everyone a safe and prosperous new year all the same, and hopefully we can all out do last year by a mile and a light-year.

Now to business: it's been a while since my last update - I apologize for leaving everyone in the dark but thing's have been pretty hectic around here. Development is still going strong on Memphis Drive and Sweeney Todd: The Game and the website is growing in hits by the day which is great to see. There have been a few problems with the Osiris Games website over the past month or so, which means all downloads that are hosted on the servers have been down. Which is not good at all since the Osiris Games server is what hosts Extermination, Gemstones, Bestseller, Insider AND Insomnia. Arrgh! But not to worry people - hopefully by the time you read this update all games will be back up on THIS website and will be available for download. Thing's may take a little while longer with the Osiris Games website however so just bare with us on that front. Cheers!

Memphis Drive Delayed!

November 30, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

Some of you have no doubt already figured, but unfortunately Memphis Drive will be delayed until Q1 2008. As the game has progressed I have been constantly adding new features and spending more time on the overall presentation, these being the two main causes for delay. Don't fret though -- the game is getting bigger as the weeks tick by and I can promise at least double the content of what was originally planned. I hope to have a few more videos posted soon on the main gameplay of Memphis Drive, so remember to keep at eye on the Myrtilus Entertainment YouTube page. Cheers.

Wanted: Artists/Cartoonists

October 18, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

This is a shout out to all talented artists or cartoonists out there: I need your help. I am looking for horror-gothic artwork (which will eventually be in a comic-book form) to appear in the new Sweeney Todd: The Game title. Now i am very open minded at this stage of the game, so this is a shout out to anyone with artistic talent AT ALL. Which means it could be any array of tools you use to do your work - wether it be paint, spray-paint, pencils, a computer, whatever! I want to keep details to a minimum until I select the artist I'm after, but basically if you can present any kind of artwork (scans, photos, or JPEG or GIF format) to me, i'll certainly consider using your talents for the game itself. Also credits will be provided in-game and on the website and your artwork will be placed on the website under the Sweeney Todd section for permanent display. Fee's ARE negotiable, so please name your price and every entry will be taken under seriously.

Now if you would like to present any form of art to us then please email me @ blackart@myrtilusentertainment.com. Thank you!

Sweeney Todd: The Game

October 17, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

Well it's been exactly 1 month since my last update. Long time for me i must say, and I apologize to all who have been hanging on for some news. Development with Memphis Drive is still coming along nicely, but today i'm not here to talk about this one. I want to officially annouce my plans to begin work on my newest title "Sweeney Todd: The Game" (along side Memphis Drive of course). For all those familiar wtih who Sweeney Todd is then you already know how crazy and incredibly funny a game it would make, for those unfamiliar then please follow this link to the Wiki page to read up on him (and his mistress): Click Here.

The game will consist of many different genres squeezed into one. The main element throughout though is its dark humour and gothic cartoon-style approach. The game will be in full 2D, and include 6 games in the one package: 3 for Sweeeney and 3 for his accomplice Mrs Lovett. For more information and a sneek peek at the main menu of the game (with some commentry from me) then please follow the links to the Sweeney Todd page (Under Development>Sweeney Todd: The Game). Newsletter coming next month with more news on the game and exclusive footage of Memphis Drive. Cheers

Newsletter

September 17, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

We officially have a newletter! Every couple of months or so we will send out a newsletter to all of our subscribers detailing what we have been up to since the last one, and include exclusive information, pictures, videos, etc. It is free to subsribe of course, and you can unsubscribe any time you wish so there are no obligations or anything like that. At the moment we will be hosting this service via Bravenet, but thing's may change in the future (but you wont need to sign up twice - we will simply ship all details over to the new host). Thanks.

Yet another website design...!

September 13, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

I don't even think the god's predicted this one; a new site design. I have to say the last one was nice, but I think this one is even nicer and I couldnt help myself but to change it again. Everything should be running normal though so feel free to browse the site as you normally would. Also I will be adding up a newsletter sign-up page soon, so that way every couple of months or so we can send our a newsletter informing everyone of what we have in store, what progress we have made with the games, any new media that has been released, etc.

Also, don't forget the new version of Bestseller (1.2.02) was released yesterday, to update via the Press Room > Downloads page, or via your in-game "Check for Updates" feature.

Insomnia: Night Shift 1.0.04 Now Available

August 22, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

A bit of a change -- I have re-written a lot of the code from Insomnia: Night Shift to create a much more stable build of the game. You may notice a few differences in the interface here and there also -- but hopefully fans of the game will be happy that Insomnia plays a lot more smoother, and newcomers or people that havent been previously able to play the game might be in for a bit of a suprise. Either way, i hope you all enjoy the new version.

On a quick side-note, a new version of Bestseller will be released by the end of the week (and it fixes many bugs, including the save/load and biography bugs that have forever been able to dig their way through every version thus far -- i finally got the little buggers!), so remember to look out for that. Cheers

Update from Viktor

August 6, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

Viktor Stahl asked me to pass on a message to everyone regarding Scandinavian Song Contest. As of now SSC will not be released anytime soon, and may be postponed for a 2008 release instead. Viktor also said that a new game: Tennis Academy is in the works and a demo may be available for download within the next 1-3 months. Viktor will post an update hopefully next week explaining more (and an development page will be included). Cheers!

Website Updates & Plague Recorder

July 3, 2007 by Damien Russell (djrussell: ME Forums)

You may have noticed I've added a Google search engine to the site. Also I've just added an About Us page to the site. In other news version 1.0.1 of Plague Recorder is now available. The new version fixes a program bar bug, and i've also added system tray support. Enjoy
